IoT Speaker shares insight on remote assistive technology
Irvine, December 14, 2016 — UC Irvine graduate, Austin Marron was the feature speaker at Calit2’s Fall IoT seminar, held last Wednesday at Calit2. In his presentation, “Making Blindness Less Blinding with Realtime Video in the IoT,” Marron highlighted a few of the more successful applications of smart glasses and examined some of the technical details of deploying and maintaining a fleet of realtime video devices.

Marron has held positions held at Blizzard Entertainment, Intuit and as a co-founder at Common Form, Inc. before joining Aira.
Aira develops transformative remote assistive technology that connects the blind with a network of certified agents via wearable smart glasses and an augmented reality dashboard that allows agents to see what the blind person sees in real time. Agents, serving as visual interpreters for the blind, help users accomplish a wide range of daily tasks and activities - from navigating busy streets to recognizing faces. Aira's platform works on wearable devices such as Google Glass and Vuzix that can be paired with smartphones.
